The ban on direct flights between UK airports and North Cyprus has been ongoing for 35 years and causes considerable inconvenience to all travelers to and from North Cyprus. This ban will be challenged in court by CTA and CTA Holidays on the 18th May. CTA carry around 100,000 people from the UK to North Cyprus. If the ban was to be lifted North Cyprus could receive many more visitors. Air fares could be reduced and traveling times reduced dramatically. It is unlikely that a judgment will be given at or immediately after the hearing. A decision might still be a matter of months away but fingers crossed for a positive result. Our country has a low cost of living attracting holiday makers and expatriates but air fares and traveling times deter many a lift in the ban will give a huge boost to our economy.
