FAQ


Q: Can we fly direct to North Cyprus?
A: At the moment, all flights have to stop in Turkey for approx. 45 minutes. Or you can fly direct to Larnaca, in the South of Cyprus.

Q: Are you able to arrange inspection flights?
A: We arrange inspection trips including fights, transfers to hotel and up to 3 nights hotel accommodation.

Q: Can I bring my pets?
A: All pets entering North Cyprus have to be quarantined for a short period. Your local vet must chip your pet and help you complete the pet passport form. For local advice contact Margaret Ray, Chairperson of Kyrenia Animal Rescue on + 90 533 863 1950.

Q: How can I ship my personal effects?
A: There are several container companies that provide this service and it is always wise to obtain several quotations. Olaytrans Ltd + 90 392 366 6540 and DHL + 90 542 851 2288.

Q: What documents are required when purchasing property?
A: Just your passport is required to purchase a property.

Q: Can I pay for the property from home?
A: All monies can be transferred to our International HSBC account.

Q: How do we know when our payments are due?
A: We will notify you by sending pictures of the progress.

Q: Who will take pictures of my house while it is being constructed?
A: After you have agreed to purchase you are not on your own. Our After Sales Team will be photographing your house while the construction is under way.

Q: Can I use my UK driving license?
A: For 3 months you can drive with your UK license, after that you can only drive with a North Cyprus license. Once you have been issued with your residency permit a local license can be administered within days

Q: How big is a donum of land?
A: A third of an acre or 1,338m. Land measurements are generally calculated in donums, evleks and 4 evleks to the donum and 3,600 square feet to an evlek easy really.

Q: Can I have a house built to my own design?
A: We have a variety off plan designs available in our office; you can browse through
3-D plans and also discuss your specification with our architect. Everything is in our hands.

Q: Can I buy a property in North Cyprus from overseas?
A: We have many overseas buyers who due to their busy programs are unable to visit in the first instance, but do not want to miss out. If you do want to buy remotely this is a very easy process and we will be happy to guide you through this every step of the way.

Q: Do I have to make a new will in Cyprus?
A: We strongly advise you to make a new will as your property in Cyprus is not covered on your original will. Our lawyers can do this for you.

Q: Am I required to take out medical insurance?
A: You are not required and we find that most ex-patriots rely on the local medical care which is good and extremely reasonable.

Q: Is there an International School for my children to attend?
A: Yes, there are many.

Q: Are there tax implications if decided to sell up and return to UK/Europe Etc?
A: Foreigners do not need to pay tax.

Q: Where are the villages?
A: Kyrenia is the main town East of Kyrenia in order are Karakum, Ozankoy, Dogankoy, Catalkoy, Arapkoy, Esentepe. West of Kyrenia in order are Zeytinlik , Karaoglanoglu, Edremit, karaman, Kervansaray, Alsancak, Ilgaz, Incesu, matalya, Lapta, Karsiyaka.

Q: How long are we allowed to stay on the island legally?
A: You are issued a 3 month tourist visa when you arrive, after which you must apply for a residents permit.

Q: Who looks after my property whilst I am away?
A: We will look after your property

Q: Who will advertise my property and obtain bookings if I wish to rent it out?
A:  We will arrange marketing/bookings for you.
